Everything revolves around values, and openly sharing your values in an effort to let your employees and customers know what you stand for and what you believe in, is key. So ask yourself the following questions:
· What do you stand for?
· What does your company value?
· If I were to visit your company’s About Us area, what would I discover about you and your business?
If you’re looking for some more inspiration on where to start, I can thoroughly recommend Simon Sinek’s, ‘Start with Why,’ which you can find easily on YouTube.
Importantly for me, as an HR Consultant, seeking the views of employees is critical in establishing your values. Today more than ever, a company’s success is linked to the degree that its employees are satisfied and the quality of the Employee Experience is central to this. If you can unlock employees’ potential and invest in their experience your employees will turn into ambassadors for your brand consequently making your company attractive to new talent. In short, it’s part of a virtuous circle that can deliver enormous advantages.
So, in the spirit of being open and collaborative – here are the values for my company. Borrowed closely from the CIPD (my professional body) with a few small tweaks, this is what I’m all about.
Customer First
Listening to customers and putting their interests at the heart of everything
Collaborative
Pulling together, challenging constructively and always communicating effectively
Expert
Ensuring expertise informs everything and never accepting mediocrity
Integrity
Being authentic and standing by our word - building trust all the time, every time
Innovative
Turning innovation and insight into value and impact
And it goes without saying, if you need inspiration and assistance with establishing your Company values and Employee Experience – I can help with that!
